“I advise my clients to take the high road by reminding all parties that if they have children together they will continue to be part of each other’s lives post-judgment.”
I am a Shareholder and head the Domestic Relations/Family Law Section at Hertz Schram PC in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. I am a graduate of Michigan State University College of Law (formerly known as the Detroit College of Law). My entire practice focuses on Family Law matters. I am also a member of the Hague Convention Attorney Network, an organization created to assist parents seeking to invoke the Hague Child Abduction Convention in the United States.
Since 1996, I have been practicing Family Law/Matrimonial Law. I am a past chair of the Oakland County Family Law Committee, a member in good standing with the Family Law Section of the State Bar of Michigan and a Professor of Law at Western Michigan University, Cooley Law School where I teach Family Law. I am collaboratively trained and a member of the Collaborative Professionals Institute of Michigan (CPIM) and International Association of Collaborative Professionals (IACP). I am also a member of the Family Mediation Counsel of Michigan.
My practice involves all aspects of family law including Divorce, Child Custody, Child Support, Parenting Time, Spousal Support and Property Division. I am very familiar with more complex issues including marital tort litigation, division and valuation of closely held businesses, division of intellectual property, copyrights and royalties. I have litigated Hague Child Abduction Convention cases and interstate custody and support issues.
Family law cases require a special combination of characteristics to navigate clients through some of the most emotional days of their lives. It is said that divorces are the second most difficult time in a person’s life, second only to the loss of a close loved one. Thus, the One-Liner above, which reads “Let me help you find the calm in your emotional storm.”
In my free time I am a volunteer ski patroller with the National Ski Patrol and Legal Advisor with the Central Division of the United States to the National Ski Patrol. I am also a member of the National Mountain Bike Patrol.

In addition to the more traditional divorce matters, I have been very fortunate to represent many current and former professional athletes, entertainers and public figures in my almost 25 year career in family law, including National Football League players, National Hockey League players, National Basketball Association players, as well as Major League Baseball players and their spouses. I have also had the pleasure to represent many entertainers, musicians and authors and to assist these public figures discreetly and professionally through their family law matters.
I also handle other complicated divorce situations such as business owners, and spouses of business owners, CEO’s and spouses of CEO’s, high net worth individuals, auto dealership owners, and individuals with multiple business interests.
