Red Cross workers halt strike brought on by contract disputes

Ultimately, in order for a large corporation to be successful, they need to make their employees happy. Unfortunately, this is sometimes easier said than done. Often, there are a number of contract disputes that can arise between employers and employees. This seems to be the case in Michigan with the American Red Cross blood collection workers.

The American Red Cross workers have been on strike since March when a contract dispute. This dispute was in relation to health benefits, collective bargaining rights and additional issues. This strike is the third time that union workers have gone on strike in the previous two years. It is also what caused the cancelation of many blood drives throughout Michigan.

Terms of a contract, with health packages that match the packages that non-union employees receive, have been extended to the American Red Cross union workers. At this time, though, an official contract has not been set into motion for the union workers, as they have not agreed to the current terms that have been presented. However, they have ended their strike.

Running a business has its share of complications, which includes contract disputes. In some cases, contract disputes can be avoided, but in other cases, both sides feel that they are entirely appropriate with their actions and requests. However, as a Michigan business owner and regardless of the type of dispute situation that is in front of you, you must protect your company’s future by resolving contract disputes in a suitable manner, but in a manner that is beneficial for your company.
