New business opens theater inside Michigan mall

Category: Business & Corporate Law

When large companies decide to open a business in a community, many times this will significantly increase economic activity within the local community. This can significantly help a local community jump-start its local economy while also adding more job opportunities for residents. Regal Entertainment Group is looking to do just that by opening a new business , a large stadium-style movie theater at a local mall in Michigan.

The 50,000 square foot cinema will be housed inside a local mall owned by Rouse Properties, Inc. Regal is currently one of the largest movie theater chains in the U.S., with 540 locations in 38 states as well as the nation’s capital. This will be Regal’s second theater location in Michigan. The cinema will feature 12 screens. This is twice as many screens as the mall’s current theater, which only offers six screens for moviegoers.

Along with the new movie theater, the owner of the mall says it has just secured a lease which would allow an Olive Garden restaurant to open inside of the mall. Rouse says that it plans to continue adding more national restaurant chains to the mall’s occupants. Many have also speculated about what other plans Rouse may have regarding the mall, noting that retail space which used to house Mervyn’s and Steve & Barry’s clothing stores still remain vacant.

In addition to the movie theater, there may be opportunities for entrepreneurs to open a new business in the vacant spots inside the mall in Michigan. However, this will require careful business planning to ensure that businesses adhere to local rules and regulations. If this is not done properly, it could result in serious fines, and in the worst case scenario, may cause a business to be forced to shut down.
