Michael is an internationally recognized attorney and strategic business advisor. He is a registered patent attorney, and his practice spans all types of intellectual property (IP), business, litigation, transactional, branding, software, data, employment, and healthcare matters. He has advised and represented clients in a variety of fields including software, medical, financial, venture capital, defense, telecommunications, and vehicles. Michael focuses on understanding and achieving client objectives such as for revenue generation, IP monetization, customer/supply relationships, transaction value, risk reduction, and competitive advantage.
He has extensive experience in complex business and intellectual property matters involving trade secrets, utility patents, design patents, data rights, trademarks, copyrights, and know-how. This includes protection, litigation, licensing, and transactions related to products and services for software, healthcare, medical, mechanical, electrical, computer, vehicle, and engine technologies. Exemplary technologies include medical devices, mobile applications, implants, instruments, engines, controls, vehicles, autonomous systems, artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, robotics, sensors, automation, virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), cybersecurity, blockchain, internet of things (IoT), telecommunications, mesh networks, and computer-implemented systems.
Michael is the chair of the IP Transactions Committee for American Intellectual Property Association (AIPLA), a mentor for University of Michigan’s “Financing Technology Commercialization: A Venture Capital Practicum,” and a Michigan co-chair, past High Tech Sector chair and past annual meeting chair for the Licensing Executives Society (LES).
