I have the answer for you!  This update contains information about how the Coronavirus pandemic impacts workers and businesses in Michigan.

Let’s first review and understand why the COVID-19 “Stay Home, Stay Safe” executive order (the “Order”) was enacted by Governor Gretchen Whitmer on March 23, 2020.  The Order was enacted to help prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus.  The Order provides guidelines for businesses and workers in Michigan to prevent the following:

  • the spread of the COVID-19
  • help prevent the state’s health care system from being oversaturated with the sick
  • allow time to for the production of critical test kits, ventilators, and personal protective equipment; and
  • avoid unnecessary deaths.

I performed a detailed review of the Order to identify exemptions available to workers and businesses.  A summary exemptions under the Order has been published as an article by the State Bar of Michigan on March 30, 2020.  You can review the article by clicking here > SBM Exceptions to Executive Order_2020-21.
