Matthew B. Walker is an associate attorney at Hertz Schram PC where he focuses on real estate and commercial litigation, mortgage, construction, Bankruptcy, business and appellate law. He assists his real estate clients in all aspects of real estate law, including acquisitions, development and sales of property, litigating disputes involving ownership and priority and negotiating, enforcing and defending contract provisions. He concentrates his practice on the mortgage and title insurance industries and has litigated on behalf of both the lender and title underwriter in commercial and residential matters involving priority and boundary disputes, tax liens, forgery, conversion and misappropriation, agent defalcations, insured closing protection letters (CPLs) and large scale mortgage fraud.He also has experience working with the State of Michigan to resolve outstanding taxes, tax forfeitures and sales.He has successfully represented clients in both state and federal courts and has obtained favorable results with the Michigan Court of Appeals.
Mr. Walker received his Bachelor of Arts degree in 2002 from Michigan State University and earned his Juris Doctor in 2005 from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law where he received awards for outstanding achievements in trial practice.
Mr. Walker is admitted to practice in Michigan and the United States District Courts for the Eastern and Western Districts of Michigan.He is a member of the State Bar of Michigan Real Property Law Section, Michigan Land Title Association, Oakland County Bar Association and Real Estate Committee, and Michigan State University Football Players Alumni Association.In 2007, Mr. Walker was elected as a Director of the OCBA New Lawyers Committee and was appointed as an Associate of the OCBA's American Inns of Court. In 2009, Mr. Walker was selected as a Rising Star by Law & Politics, publisher of Michigan Super Lawyers Magazines.
