Jonathan Sweik has more than ten years’ experience representing financial services companies across the full spectrum of needs, including FINRA member broker-dealers, investment advisors, individual brokers, and insurance agents, as well as corporate officers.   He has defended these entities in cases involving alleged fraud, negligence, breach of contract, and defamation as well as other significant legal and compliance issues, protecting their reputations and contributing to their continued safety in an increasingly challenging regulatory environment.

In his capacity as first-chair in numerous such matters, Mr. Sweik has routinely operated in complex multi-party cases with compound legal and regulatory issues.  Mr. Sweik has measured his success not only by the favorable resolution of matters for his clients, but also by the increased value he brings to them through early and consistent focus on the most salient issues in any given case.  “You have to know the claimant’s case better than the claimant or his counsel,” says Mr. Sweik, “if you’re going to prevail, and do it in a cost-effective way.”  Sweik has maintained a keen awareness of best practices in the brokerage industry, from compliance to firm risk management in the employment context, and this knowledge gives him an edge over many claimant’s attorneys, who often do not share that level of focus or perspective.

Mr. Sweik is a graduate of the University of Michigan, where he majored in political science and American political history, and the University of  Detroit Mercy School of Law, where he earned his juris doctor.
