Amy Sabbota Gottlieb concentrates her practice on commercial litigation and real estate litigation, with a particular emphasis on consumer finance litigation.  Ms. Gottlieb regularly represents some of the nation’s largest financial institutions including banks, mortgage lenders and servicers, as well as title insurance underwriters.  She has counseled and represented clients on matters related to the application of consumer finance laws, foreclosure, mortgage fraud, contract law, lien priority disputes, tax liens and title insurance. Ms. Gottlieb has achieved successful outcomes for clients in both state and federal courts, in actions heard at the appellate level and in facilitations before private mediators.

Ms. Gottlieb’s representations include -
• Counseling servicers and mortgage lenders in actions for wrongful foreclosure and/or improper servicing practices.
• Obtaining dismissal of lawsuits against servicers and mortgage lenders alleging claims of fraud, breach of contract, negligence, slander of title, conversion, trespass, and defamation.
• Defending lenders and servicers against allegations of violations of the Fair Debt Collection Practice Act, Truth in Lending Act, Fair Credit Reporting Act, Michigan Mortgage Brokers, Lenders and Services Act and Michigan Consumer Protection Act, loan modifications under the federal Home Affordable Modification Program.
• Defending title insurance underwriters involving disputes related to title insurance policies.
• Representing commercial and residential property owners in quiet title actions, foreclosure actions, and other equitable actions involving disputes surrounding real property transactions.  

Ms. Gottlieb received her Juris Doctor in 1999 from Chicago Kent College of Law. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree, magna cum laude, in 1996 from the University of Michigan.

Ms. Gottlieb is a member of the state bars of Michigan, Illinois and New York.  She is admitted to practice in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan, the United States District Court for the Western District of Michigan and the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois Eastern Division.
