Brian Witus is a partner at Hertz Schram practicing in the area of civil litigation. Within the context of civil litigation, he specializes in the areas of securities defense and negligence defense litigation, as well as general commercial litigation. Mr. Witus has also practiced in the areas of white-collar crime, forfeiture proceedings and general criminal defense.
Mr. Witus has handled dozens of negligence defense cases, including premises liability and automobile negligence cases. Mr. Witus has also handled dozens of securities fraud cases and regulatory matters and is experienced in the handling trading practice claims alleging unsuitability, misrepresentations, omissions, unauthorized trading and churning. He has also handled employment disputes involving the enforceability of restrictive covenants, raiding, trade secrets and unfair competition.
Mr. Witus graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Michigan with High Distinction in 1987, and graduated with a Juris Doctor from the University of Michigan Law School in 1991. He is a member of the State Bar of Michigan and the State Bar of Illinois and is admitted to practice in the Northern and Central Districts of Illinois and the Eastern and Western Districts of Michigan, as well as the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit.
